WE ALL HAVE THEM!!
They are a part of us -- They are our identifying marks.
Some people try to remove those identifying Beauty Marks.
In fact, people go to great lengths to make themselves, in their opinion, more attractive.
Over 12 million cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures are performed in the USA each year.
It’s an attempt to make people feel better about how they look.
Below is a story that was on one of the local News Channels:
A woman decided to get a face lift to surprise her husband so she could look younger. Her husband was so upset because now, next to her, he looked so much older. So a few months later he decided he better get a face lift too so he wouldn’t look like her father!!!!
Let me share a personal example:
I remember when I had Lasik eye surgery a couple years ago.
I was really excited about it -- UNTIL I found out I couldn’t use eye make-up for 3 DAYS BEFORE and 3 WEEKS AFTER the surgery!!
That really caught me off guard. My husband, Tom, had eye surgery 10 years ago -- BUT he never mentioned anything about eye make-up!!!
I had second thoughts about getting the Lasik surgery done.
BUT COMMON SENSE WON OUT!! I realized after the first couple of days of not wearing eye makeup that -- it wasn’t that bad -- after getting ready each morning, I didn’t really see myself again until much later in the day. As a matter of fact, I completely forgot that I didn’t have eye makeup on most days. After all I couldn’t see me!!!
WHY ARE WE SO OVERLY CONCERNED ABOUT OUR OUTER BEAUTY?
SHOULDN’T WE BE MORE CONCERNED WITH OUR INNER BEAUTY?
When we accept Christ and become a “new creation,” shouldn’t we begin developing the “BEAUTY MARKS” of our Heavenly Father --- SPIRITUAL BEAUTY MARKS?
When people are around us, do they see “Spiritual Beauty Marks” that identify us as a Christ Follower?
Imagine how we could touch the lives of the people around us -- our family, our friends, our co-workers, strangers if we consistently became imitators ofChrist!!!
The Bible talks about what these Spiritual Beauty Marks look like.
But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control (Our Spiritual Beauty Marks).
Let’s look at what it means to be marked by each of these “Spiritual Beauty Marks."
- Caring and seeking the highest good of another person without motive of personal gain.
- The feeling of gladness based on the love, grace, blessings, promises and nearness of God that belong to all who truly believe in Christ.
- Calm, quietness of heart and mind based on the knowledge that all is well between the believer and his or her heavenly Father.
- Not the ability to wait -- but how we act while waiting.
- Compassionate, thoughtful, considerate.
- Honesty, integrity , a zeal for truth and righteousness and a hatred for evil.
- Trustworthy, honest.
- Restraint coupled with strength and courage, tender, calm.
- Self-disciplined , shows restraint, able to master one’s own desires and passions.

ON ALLOWING THE LORD TO DEVELOP THEM IN US.
SO WE EACH MUST ASK OURSELVES THIS HARD QUESTION.
WHAT BEAUTY MARKS DOES THE LORD SEE IN ME?
ULTIMATELY YOUR GOAL
AS INDIVIDUALS AND A COMMUNITY OF BELEIVERS
SHOULD BE TO LOOK LIKE JESUS CHRIST.
IF WE DO THAT -- WE WILL BE BEAUTIFUL.
