FROM CINDER BLOCK TO FREEDOM

Before you start your week, I’d like you to go to your local garden center and pick up a cinder block which weighs 42.5 lbs. or a decorative rock of the same weight.

Place it in a prominent place in your house or yard. Now before you start thinking that I’ve finally gone “over the edge” just stick with me

Your rock represents your concerns, worries, problems or burdens that you need to give to the Lord. As long as you are trying to carry your burden alone, you will also have to “lug” your 42.5 lbs. cinder block or rock around.

BUT when you are ready to release your burden to the Lord, your cinder block or rock can go back to its appointed place in your house or yard as a reminder to you that the Lord is now in charge of your burden.

The Lord assures us that He is with us, that we can rely on and trust Him and then invites us to come to Him with our burdens.

“The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding (goes beyond all limits of our understanding), will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28–30

Trust in the Lord with ALL of your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In ALL your ways acknowledge Him and HE WILL direct your paths.  Proverbs 3: 5-6

I realize that releasing a situation to the Lord can be very difficult at times. We have the need to know that somehow we are in control or on top of a situation.

Very frankly, there are times when situations are out of our control. Though we would like to do something to solve a problem, other people’s actions sometimes play a part in the outcome. This is why we need to take the steps to release our cares into God’s hands and TRUST Him to bring us through no matter what the outcome may be. That’s not always an easy thing to do.

So how do you start? You start by partnering with the Lord. Going to Him in prayer and admitting how hard the situation is. You admit you’re between a rock and a hard place, that things are beyond your control and you need help - HIS help, HIS divine intervention, HIS peace and wisdom.

Of course, you need to do all that is humanly possible as you seek His wisdom; but then release your situation to the Lord so He can supernaturally do His part.

THE BIG QUESTION IS:

DO YOU TRUST GOD ENOUGH TO HANDLE YOUR SITUATION?

The Word says that there is NOTHING too hard for GOD to handle. God not only loves us and wants the best for us; He also has the “big picture”. By contrast, we can only see this small moment in time.

Prayer is our way to draw near and remain close to God no matter what tough circumstances come into our life. He is our lifeline.  Our prayer can be as simple as “God Help!” He knows the depth of your cry and He knows exactly what that means without you filling in all the details, because at times, we don’t know all the details or what we really need. We just know that we need His help.

So, are you ready to release your heavy burdens, worries, concerns, problems (your cinder block)?

and

Move into the arena of trusting the Lord

which is where you will find your freedom?

That’s the key word --  TRUST

God cares about you more than anyone and has unlimited wisdom and knowledge about your situation.

Will you trust Him enough to hand over your “rock” and get out of His way so He can work in miraculous ways in your situation?
