Satellite Youth is the youth ministry of South Hills Assembly. Satellite is for students in 6th to 12th grade, and our services are loud and fun! We are focused on discipleship, worship, and reaching others with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. Parents are always welcome to attend, and we are also always looking for more adult volunteers to help serve. There are frequently fun events such as laser tag, movie nights, lock-ins, etc., where students and families can have a great time in a safe and Christ-centered environment. Messages vary from week to week and include illustrations, videos and student/leader involvement. Our worship teams consist of students and adult volunteers who play mostly modern worship music. There are a large number of areas where teens and adults can serve, such as worship team, fine arts, production or supporting missions.

Mission of Satellite Youth:  "Make Disciples Who Make Disciples"

In Matthew 28:19, Jesus gives us the Great Commission, saying "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"

It is our desire for each person who is part of Satellite Youth to develop a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ that is passionate and consistent, where students come to know Him and are able to share Him with others. We believe fully in the mission and vision of our church overall—to love God and make His love known to others (Isaiah 61).

"It is my desire for each of our students to be poured into and built up in Christ to the point that they can begin to pour into and build up others—as teenagers," says Pastor Robert. "My philosophy of ministry is to make Disciples of Christ. I feel that it is important to create an environment in student ministry that is both welcoming to newcomers and dives into the deep things of God in order to make mature disciples. I love to have loud, exciting and fun youth services and events, but I am not content to only play games or stay surface level. Teens today face real issues and need real guidance and power from God’s Word. It is absolutely possible to have a great time in youth ministry and grow in Christ."

Frequently Asked Questions:

When is Satellite Youth?

Satellite Youth Service: Every Wednesday night at 7:00 pm in the Youth Center

What is a service like at Satellite Youth?

Wednesday night Satellite Youth starts at 7 pm with worship. Most of our worship team members are actually students! Worship varies from loud and exciting to intimate and prayerful. It is always high-impact. Worship time is usually followed by announcements and a game time. Afterwards, the youth pastor, Robert Dennard, will speak a message that is geared toward students. After service is over, students are free to hang out in the youth center or game room area until they go home.

How can I get involved in Satellite Youth?

For Teens: Just show up! We would love to meet you, so simply be there any Wednesday night. Once you start attending, there are a number of ways to get involved, including Fine Arts, Bible Quizzing, Royal Rangers, Girls Connection, Worship Team, Media and Sound Techs, Welcome Team and Student Leadership.

For Adults: Parents are always welcome at Satellite Youth, so feel free to join us for a service. We are always looking for adult volunteers.  Opportunities include small group leadership, service and event chaperones, media (light and sound) technicians, café volunteers, and prayer partners. For the safety of our students, all adult volunteers must undergo background checks before serving in youth ministry.
